The world needs more info on that Group 5 Mercedes. But since this post is the fourth result when Googling “Group 5 Mercedes,” it could take awhile. If you add “Australia” to that, it just becomes a bunch of female runway models.
I did find this crazy bastard though, a silhouette SL based on a McLaren M8F (!!!), by a guy named Hans Heyer.

My Google-fu is weak. Where did you find it?

Google image searched the photo, and it lead me to here:
http://autopics.com.au/84019-m-trenow…
Now that I had the driver’s name and year, it was easy. I ended up here:
http://www.racingsportscars.com/driver/results…
A lot of the image results are pay photo sites, but if you reverse image search those, you may come up with some other sources.
I even found this video by mixing up the search terms between his number, races, his name, make, model, etc...

Well done, then. I do love racingsportscars.com, such a great resource. Not surprised it was somewhere there.

That’s Mark Trenoweth. He finished ahead of the Mercedes that day - in third.
And to this day, he has still not found his headlights.
